Mrs. Bajich
What position are you in and what do you do in that position?
I am teaching 11th grade functional English, which is a special education position. I also co-teach English 12.
Had you been teaching English in prior places?
I was teaching at Jeanette for about five years. I started off in the K through three life skills classroom. It was a lot, but I loved it. And then I moved up to seventh and eighth grade because middle school was always my niche. I love seventh and eighth graders a lot.
Why did you choose Norwin?
Such a wonderful district. I just thought, let me take a chance. And I applied, interviewed and got offered the position and then I couldn’t pass it up. I get to see my kids in my workday, like that’s amazing. Not a lot of people can do that, so it’s nice. And plus to a lot of their friends, kids in my neighborhood and I get to see them here and it’s wonderful. It’s a good perk.
If there is one thing you want students to know about you, what is it?
That I’m here for them. That sometimes I feel like maybe the kids think teachers are out to get them. I want to help them succeed. I want them to be challenged, but succeed. And also I’m going to give my all to teaching them and I want them to rise up and give me their all too. I think one of the worst things you can call me is lazy. I have high expectations for myself.
Mr. Caldwell
Do you have any fun hobbies you have outside the classroom?
I like to travel a lot. I like to watch movies, watch shows, and sometimes in Spanish, sometimes in English. Like a lot of stuff on Hulu and stuff like that. Go out to eat, try different restaurants, stuff like that.
Any cool place you have traveled to?
This past summer I got married. My wife and I went on our honeymoon in Cancun. And usually we to try to go to less touristy places, but this was the first time when we actually went to like an all-inclusive and it kind of changed my perspective on that. Because now I want to go to more of those sometimes while still going to places off the radar.
What should students expect from your class?
To learn Spanish, to learn about the culture, to have a good time. I don’t stress perfection a lot. I expect my students to make mistakes because they’re just learning the language. It’s kind of like when you first start learning English as a little kid, you say things wrong. That’s how they’re gonna be in my class because they’re just starting to learn Spanish. It’s a process. It’s not something that happens overnight.
What is your favorite movie?
I’ll give you my comfort movie, because I guess I would consider that my favorite movie. It’s Hot Rod with Andy Sandberg. It’s so funny.
