Climate change is one of the world’s biggest issues, and ever since activists started to riot, there have been people who do not believe in it or think it is a real issue. These people have become more and more ignorant throughout the past and present, and I hope that people in the future will be able to see the issue and view that they have wasted a fundamental amount of time doing insignificant things to help the world. There needs to be a large change and global shift in focus if we want anything to change.
In the past, people did not understand the effects of climate change or even what climate change was. Frankly, people did not care. Similarly to now, people just want to do what they want, when they want, and how they want, regardless of its effects on others or the environment.
Overall, the Earth’s climate has changed over time. People started to care more in the 1970s, but that does not mean that there were not people who believed that climate change was not real or not an issue. These people started to rise as climate change activists became more prevalent throughout the world, and there is no stopping misinformed people from talking about what they think is correct.
In the present, people continue to believe that climate change either is not real or is not an issue. Although the majority believe climate change is real and important, some people, in America especially, are ignorant to the ideals that we need to change something fundamentally in the world.
The shift of importance towards climate issues should have already happened, and people have wasted many years, even decades, arguing about an issue that could have already been improved. With the time we have spent being ignorant, we have caused climate change to become a more serious and dangerous problem.
With effects such as droughts, severe storms, and even loss of species, people need to start listening to science and fact. Climate change is majorly human induced and can be seen in every aspect of our lives. From food, to water, to shelter, the severe change in the world impacts communities and individuals alike.
If greenhouse gasses continue to be increased in the world, there will be many negative effects such as increased temperature, raised sea level, increased acidity level in oceans, and detrimental health effects on humans according to climatechange.chicago.gov. Although there are many natural and environmental factors to climate change, the majority of the issue is how humans treat the world. People don’t realize how long greenhouse gasses stay in the atmosphere and continue to affect the environment. Nitrous oxide, for example, can stay in the environment for 109 years, according to epa.gov. This causes so many issues that people know about, but tend to ignore for convenience. It is easier to ignore the environment than to help.
You might think: “Why should I care? The world will be fine as long as I’m alive.” But the real question is, will the world really be fine as long as we are alive? In our generation and our future kids’ lifetimes, there may be drastic changes to the way we live and the way the environment stays healthy. If we continue doing what we are doing to the environment, the world will crumble, and our people—the people you care about, yourself, and others—will feel the effects.
In the future, there will be continuously increasing pressure between climate change activists and uneducated anti-climate change campaigners until we realize that we have already failed to stop the global crisis. That may seem radical, but it is essentially the environment we are seeing today with the uninformed against the factual communities. If we keep waiting for change, it will never come.

Excellent article. We need to act now or it’ll be too late for human race to survive it. I wish more people thought about that future instead of just their own.
