On November 4 at 11:00 am, three Norwin students will be on KDKA for the KD Quiz, taking on students from Riverview and Penn Trafford schools to try and proceed to the next round and test their knowledge.
Each year, KD Quiz has three students from 81 high schools compete by answering questions of different types on the KDKA news channel. The students compete to get to the next round in a bracket type competition. This year, junior Emma Reese and seniors Arnav Bedekar and David Shepherd represent Norwin on the quiz challenge.
Teacher Mrs. Larissa Sturm recognized these students for their activities in Model UN, Quiz Bowl, and overall academic achievement. Bedekar, Shepherd and Reese came prepared for the KD Quiz through their experiences in these activities and their interactions with each other.
“I felt like I was decently prepared, but since this was a new experience for me, on top of the rules changing for this new season, there was much uncertainty as well,” Bedekar said. “I looked forward to seeing my competition and having a fair round against them.”
The team will be seen working together to answer questions, which brings attention to teamwork and communication.
“Going into the quiz, I felt prepared because David, Arnav, and myself create a well-rounded team,” Reese said. “While I am strong in the math category, I am not as strong in science based or humanities questions. David and Arnav were able to work with me so that we could answer as many questions correctly as possible.”
On the KD Quiz on KDKA on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00, Emma, Arnav, and David competed for Norwin and got third, with Riverview coming in second and Penn Trafford coming in first.
