Each year, Norwin High School National Honors society takes a short trip to celebrate the hard work and dedication of all of its members. For this year’s trip, students traveled all the way to Boston, Massachusetts for an experience of their lives.
The trip this year began on April 8th and ended on April 11th of the 2024 school year. Students left on Mon. April 7th to arrive in Boston around 11 pm that same night. The bus ride to Boston was about a 9 hour ride, so there was plenty of time for students to complete any homework to and from the trip.
Once in Boston, students looked forward to an itinerary for the trip that was nothing less than absolutely exciting. On the first day of the trip, students ate breakfast at the hotel at 7:30 am. The group then left at 8:15 to join a ducky tour at 10:00. At 12:00 pm, students ate lunch and shopped at the Prudential Center for a few hours. Then, students boarded the bus at 2:30 pm to head to Salem. After students arrived in Salem, they received dinner Rockefella’s, Salem. By 7:00 pm, students started a ghost tour of Salem. Students were advised to dress warm and comfortably for the walking tour. The group ended the night by returning to the hotel at 9:00 and having a bed check by 11:00 pm.
Day two of the trip was just as packed as day one, starting again with breakfast at 7:30 and departure from the hotel at 8:15 for a walking tour at Fenway Park. Students got lunch at 12:00 pm and then took the Freedom Trail Tour. Students were, again, advised to dress warm and comfortable. Finally, students returned to the hotel for a bed check at 11:30 pm.
On the final day of the trip, students followed the same eat breakfast and leave the hotel schedule as the first two days of the trip. At 9:00 am the students and staff visited the Plimoth Plantation and the Mayflower. The trip then ended at 1 pm on Thursday, April 5th when students departed for home.
The cost of the trip was dependent on how many students shared a room. Quadruple occupancy costed $800 per student, triple occupancy costed $850 per student, and double occupancy costed $900 per student.
All students that are a part of Norwin High School National Honors Society were eligible to attend this trip as long as they remained a member in good standing. Students who were not a part of the National Honors Society were not eligible to attend.
For all those signed up to attend this trip, there were a few suggestions and requirements from the National Honors Society Office members. Students were expected to plan on bringing layers of clothing and comfortable shoes. The trip involved a good bit of walking and Boston was be quite cold in the spring! The office also suggested packing snacks and other basic food items to carry with you throughout the duration of the trip. Students were also expected to bring money with them for their lunches.
Norwin High School National Honors Society had a blast while rewarding student’s hard work with this fun-filled trip!
