This Norwin Ski Club took their first trip of 2024 to Lake Pacid, NY on January 18-21. Previously in Ski Club’s past, they have taken trips to famous skiing and snowboarding attractions such as Vermont and now New York. The trip kicked off on Thursday January 18th following school.
The Norwin Ski Club following school on Thursday, took a bus to the Hampton Inn at Lake Placid and had a late dinner upon arrival to kick off the trip. Friday morning following check in is where the fun began for the Knights.
As President of the Ski Club, Anthony Berardi and the club trekked to the first slopes of the trip. Following a couple hours of skiing and lunch the Knights departed for the Lake Placid Gorge, and then dinner. One of the rather unique attractions that was visited on this trip was visiting the sites of the 1932 and 1980 Olympic games that were held at Lake Placid. On the 19th was the first visit to one of these Olympic sites and part that club visited that day was the Olympic Oval, where ice skating took place too conclude the night. Saturday, January 20th was the third day of the trip which began with breakfast and an early morning skiing. Following the early day of skiing, Ski Club went to have dinner at the Bowl-A-Rama at Lake Placid and Bowl against one another in the club. To cap off the night, was a trip to the Lake Placid Olympic Museum, which had simulations of the Olympics allowed for the students to experience. The day after, the Ski Club set for home at breakfast and lunch on Sunday, January 21 to conclude the extravagant trip.
“It was a great trip the trip went really well no injuries just one broken snowboard,” leader of Ski Club and teacher, Mr. Jack Momeyer said. “The weather was perfect except the second day was a little too windy and cold.”
Up this year, there will be a Special Olympics Ski Club trip, and a trip to Wisp, Maryland, and unfortunately the club had to cancel their trip to Blue Knob.
