Grease is the word!
From March 21-24, the Norwin Theatre Company performed the beloved musical: Grease. Each night, the amazing cast and crew did an outstanding job, blowing away the directors and other spectators in the audience. According to the directors, each night was a sell-out! The theater floor was packed, and the only tickets available at the door were in the nonreserved audion. Every floor seat was taken, which was a monumental achievement for the NTC.
“After talking to some other schools that have performed Grease, we knew it would sell well, but I did not expect the turnout we had,” said NTC’s technical director Todd Leighty. “It was great to see everyone come out and support the show.”
Something people don’t realize is that the spring musical is the last for all of the seniors. Cast members Nora Ilnicki and Zack Garbinski, senior cast members, played Sandy and Danny — Ilnicki on Thursday and Saturday and Garbinski on Friday and Sunday. With Grease being the final show, it was most certainly a memorable one.
“I could not have asked for a better senior show,” said Ilnicki. “It felt so special to be able to perform in lead roles alongside the good friends that I had met during my freshman year through the NTC.”
As with any production, there is a ton of work and preparation leading up to the show. Both cast and crew had spent months rehearsing, building, and working hard to create such a wonderful product. From December to March (leading up to the show), the entire theater company put forth their best efforts to create something truly special for them and for the audience.
“Every single person I spoke with thanked me and did nothing but praise the Norwin students on their talent and production,” said NTC director Lauren Scheirer. “Bravo to all!”
Everyone — the members you see and don’t see — involved in making this musical possible put their heart and soul into making another amazing performance. Just like director Mrs. Schierer mentioned, nothing but praise came from every single viewing of this show.
Now that the 2024 spring musical is done, it leaves everyone wondering what the NTC has in store for next year’s performances in the Fall and the Spring.
“For me, I think Grease is the best senior show someone could ask for,” said senior lead, Zack Garbinski.
