Q: When did you get into fashion design? What inspired you to follow this path?
A: Fashion has always been a part of who I am. In my world, every day is a fashion show. I got into fashion after falling in love with clothes. I have numerous core memories of scouring each of the malls in our area with my mom which fostered my love for fashion at an early age. As a little girl I would watch her shop and put outfits together. I learned quickly how clothes can make a person feel confident and better about themselves. Outfits are the way I express myself and my creativity. Whether the outfits were for my mom, dad, sister, or myself I always had an opinion on how to pair each article of clothing as a form of expression. My first experience in fashion design was the fashion class I took freshman year. I then took fashion design two the following year. I found it so interesting and rewarding. The class was the only one I can honestly say didn’t feel like school work. After realizing my passion for fashion I knew I wanted to pursue my education in fashion design.
Q: What are your long-term goals in the fashion industry?
A: My long term goals include attending WVU in the fall of 2025. WVU has an extensive Fashion Design and Merchandising department and program. I had the opportunity to visit the campus and fashion dept and also meet with some of the staff directing the department in November, I am attending the university’s Fashion Impact weekend. This is where I will work one on one with a current fashion design student on a fashion sustainability project. It is a weekend long challenge giving high school students an opportunity to learn not only about the university, the program, and fashion, but also the impact the fashion industry has on the environment. Through my future education at WVU I hope to learn all the necessary comprehension of fashion and all it entails. I would love to become an entrepreneur and design my own styles whether it be for a company, or my own business.
Q: Take us through your process. When you get an idea for a piece, what happens after?
A: Typically for me my ideas come to mind at random times which leads me to quickly writing it down then going back to the ideas when I am getting materials to create my pieces. I enjoy reusing materials, instead of tossing old shirts I will make them into a reimagined piece. Sometimes the trial and error method is what works to make it the best version it can possibly be.

Q: What is your role in the theatre company? Explain what you do.
A: I am one of the two audio techs for the Norwin Theatre Company. I control all the variables of mics and music used in the productions.
Q: What is the process for what you do? Go into detail.
A: When production starts, me and the other audio tech, Claire Rakvic (10), begin to bring out all the speakers and audio receivers, as well as headset mics. We set up everything that goes into our board, all the cords that get plugged into the back, as well as everything that gets plugged in below the desk. We also make mic maps of each show, showing everyone that is in what scene and which mic they will have.
Q: How does this all play into the bigger picture? Explain.
A: Working the audio for the shows makes it easier for the audience to hear all the voices involved, as well as all the music being played in the back. We want everyone’s voice to be heard, even those without a mic, so that their families that come to see them can hear and cheer them on.
Q: How did you get into sound and how do you see it impacting your future?
A: I started off in floor crew, working backstage, but last fall show, they were looking for an audio tech after the position was open. Me and Claire had volunteered and gotten into audio only a few days before tech week started. Although audio doesn’t seem to truly aligned with what I want to do with my future, it will definitely benefit me in other ways. I have already started doing audio other places like my church and working for my dad’s band.
