This past August, Norwin High School junior Ellie Dull participated in the Westmoreland Fair. The fair takes place every August at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds, and in 2025, it was expected to draw 50,000 to 70,000 people over the nine-day period it took place. Dull decided to show her talents to the world by displaying her artwork at the fair, which took place from August 15 to August 23 this year.
“At the fair, I showed several different types of drawings, including an oil pastel drawing, a watercolor drawing, and a pen drawing,” said Dull.
Dull has been interested in art since she was young, and has progressively become more serious about her artwork, especially her drawings. With a little push from family and friends, Dull decided to take a big leap to show her talents to others.
“My mom encouraged me to participate in the fair. I’ve been drawing since I was little, but over the past couple years, I’ve been especially passionate about taking art classes. My favorite elective course is drawing and painting,” said Dull.
Dull’s big leap was well worth it. She did something she had never done before, and she learned many valuable lessons from putting herself out there and showing her art at the fair.
“I was excited that I got to display my art because that is something I’ve never done before,” said Dull.
The 2o26 Westmoreland Fair is set to take place August 21-29 at Westmoreland Fairgrounds. Next year, if you are at the Westmoreland Fair, look out for Dull, as you can expect to see her there again and have an opportunity to see her beautiful artwork in person.
Dull seems to be excited for next year, responding with a quick “Yes,” when asked if she was expecting to show artwork and drawings again next year at the fair and potentially at other events and festivals.
“I really enjoyed displaying my art this year, and I would like to do so again next year, and show other drawings or other types of drawings,” said Dull.
