It was a pretty normal sight in the first quarter of the Norwin vs Hempfield game at Spartan Field House,  Adam Bilinsky went coast to coast for a layup,  but this wasn’t just any ordinary bucket for the standout senior. Bilinsky put himself in elite company with this basket entering the 1000 point club which nobody has done for Norwin in more than a decade. It wasn’t an easy road to this milestone for the Mercyhurst commit as he fought through injuries and adversity throughout his career. The last player from Norwin to reach this accomplishment was Matt Palo in 2011.

Bilinsky is a 6’3” guard with a very unique skill set that allows him to score in a variety of ways. He can play above the rim with his show stopping dunks while also having a smooth pull up jumper that extends beyond three point land.

“I mean it’s a great achievement and it’s amazing to have my name next to some of the greats from Norwin High. My overall goal coming into this season was not just to hit 1000 points but to make my mark at Norwin,” said Bilinsky.

The man they call “Bomber” has certainly made his mark. While etching his name in the record books he also led the Knights to their second straight postseason trip after the team missed the playoffs for 6 straight seasons. Bilinsky also comes from a very storied family of athletes at Norwin. His father Allan was a three sport star  who was eventually inducted into the Norwin Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. His brother Ty also shined on the Basketball court for the Knights and continues his career at Pitt Johnstown. It’s just the beginning however for Norwins high flying star as next season he’ll be up in Erie starring for the Mercyhurst Lakers.

“The reason I liked Mercyhurst so much is because they are ready to compete for a national championship. I feel once I get there that we can get it done. Of course I wanna graduate in 4 years with my degree but my dream would be to be able to sign a contract to play professionally overseas,” said Bilinsky.

His time at Norwin isn’t done yet though, Bilinsky and the Knights take on New Castle in the playoffs for their quest at a state championship. While a trip to Peterson Event Center would be phenomenal, no matter what happens it’s been one special ride for Adam Bilinsky. He truly left a mark for Norwin Hoops and his legacy will live on.
