The 2023 NBA draft is different than ever before and here’s why.  Every year leading up to the draft we hear of upcoming prospects and how they’re going to be the next Lebron, Jordan, Kobe or whatever NBA legend they’re similar too. However this year features a freak of nature Frenchman that is truly like nothing we’ve ever seen. Victor Wembanyama is his name, and I know all the time there’s unrealistic hype about players, but in this case I feel the hype  actually doesn’t do him enough justice. Let me just give you a little context on what this guy brings to the table.                                                                                                                                Picture a big man that protects the rim like Kevin Garnett and can switch on to  quicker guards defensively. Picture that same guy can create his shot and score at all three levels efficiently. Picture he happens to stand at 7”4 with an 8 foot wingspan. Scary right, but some may ask if he can stay healthy, I mean being that big you’re certainly more prone to injuries? Well miraculously Victor has not missed a single game this season. Oh and he is still a teenager too, so he still has a lot of time to develop which is honestly frightening.                                                                                                                                So who will have the luxury of being able to take this guy? Well the Spurs currently have the number one pick which honestly sounds like a perfect fit. Being able to play under legendary coach Greg Popovich and following in the footsteps of other French legends like Tony Parker, it’s honestly a match made in heaven. It is the NBA draft though and crazy things happen so I wouldn’t be surprised if  another team tries to trade up and get him. After all this is a once in a lifetime player so I could see somebody like the rockets or pistons risking it all to get their hands on him.                                                                                                                                 With all of this being said how good will Victor Wembanyama be? Well being a Basketball fan I don’t think I have ever seen a player with his talent. This is a guy that no exaggeration, will be the face of the NBA within a few years. Somebody with no weaknesses, I mean it’s almost like you hopped on 2k and made a 7”4 big man with his attributes maxed out. Why am I saying all of this you might ask, well simply when he is in the goat conversation in a few years, just remember you heard it here first.
