Have you ever stopped and thought about how Halloween has affected your community and how no other holiday has as big an impact on our society as Halloween? Why does one day in the year when you dress up in a costume and get candy from random people is one of the most important days in the year?
I think one of the more important reasons that Halloween is such a beloved holiday is because people can express themselves in ways that are truly special to Halloween; people put on a costume, they are not just putting on an outfit to wear for one, but to express themselves and to show everyone what they like to be deep inside themselves. For the one shy kid who doesn’t talk to people, Halloween is the one day of the year when they can truly express themselves by putting on a costume that represents their own self.
Halloween is also the one time of the year that people feel comfortable letting out their darkest side and being a little bit evil, because it is perfectly normal to be so on Halloween, but weird on any other day. This is a much healthier way of satisfying evil desires than committing a violent crime. It is a benefit to the community to have a day where everybody can let their mischievous side out for one day so they can be good for the rest of the year.
Also, Halloween and October are a great time of year because you have a ton of Halloween movies to enjoy and a lot of costume parties to have fun at. And also who doesn’t like going to random people’s houses to get some free candy?
